| I met both Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds over the past few years through my involvement in political campaigns. I have a great deal of respect for both. Both have consistently participated in events involving the Young Democrats around the state, and both have long records working for the people of Virginia. However, in this election, we must make a choice between three Democrats running, and Brian Moran has increasingly outshone the other two candidates from my perspective. I wholeheartedly am supporting Brian Moran in this race. Yes, I identify with Moran's policies (and his politics) more than I do the other two candidates. His energy plan particularly impresses me. Ialso admire Brian's record in Virginia. While I was in High School, I was a student representative to my school's Parent Teacher Student Association board. Brian has been honored by the Virginia state PTA as the 'Child Advocate of the Year' in 2007. That alone really means a lot to me. From the press release that was put out after the award was announced (http://www.brianmoran.com/press/archives/2007/10): "Chairman Moran was the leading house proponent for the largest investment in K-12 education in Virginia history to ensure our schools remain top quality. He has also worked to reduce underage drinking and driving by making drunk driving a felony and he has fought for expanded children’s healthcare to every child in Virginia."
I am also extremely impressed with Moran's work to reduce drinking and driving, as well as his efforts to stop child abuse. His record is not just about accomplishing good in Virginia, but is a record of fighting for the people he represents. It isn't about representing special interests, but fighting for all of us. Record means a lot, and I agree with Brian's. It is more predictive of what a candidate will do than any press release they put out or promise they make to voters on the trail. On top of that, Brian's experience working for years as an advocate to elect Democrats in Virginia shows a great dedication and work ethic that will easily transfer over to the work that needs to be done in the Governor's Mansion. A few weeks ago on this blog, Kenton Ngo wrote: "I know, however, what I want out of my candidate--a "fighter, not a fundraiser" who is tenacious enough to attack when necessary. Primaries are emotional more than rational, and as someone who believes in the power of the rational, it's difficult to say I can't put it any more clearly than this. This year, I'll be casting my vote for Brian Moran simply because I believe he'll fight hardest for us all."
I couldn't agree more. |
