Virginia House Republicans Reject $125M in Federal Stimulus Money

by: Brian Devine

Thu Apr 09, 2009 at 09:47:19 AM EDT

( - promoted by Aimee Fausser)

Via the DPVA:
House Republicans rejected $125 million in federal stimulus money for expanded unemployment benefits, ensuring that Virginians' tax money will go to other states instead of families here in the Commonwealth.

Shortly before the vote, Democratic Leader Ward Armstrong took to the floor to express how badly his district needed the support - last month, the unemployment rate in Martinsville hit 20.2 percent.

Yet another example
of the great leadership being provided by Ward Armstrong and the wisdom of his fellow caucus members who chose him to lead.

That could be the ballgame folks...
Campaigns are won and lost, sometimes before the even really get going.  The GOP better hang on to their hats.  When you have a bunch of out of work social conservatives in rural areas, I don't think the 2nd Amendment argument is going to work so well.  They won't have the money to buy the guns or ammo, or put gas in their pick-up truck, or go to Martinsville or Bristol to see NASCAR.  They are going to be voting with their wallets and what's not in their kitchen cabinets or on the table.  Good job GOP!   Way to stand on your principles.
