68 DAYS to Primary Day...

BIG WHISKEY AND THE GROOGRUX KING: Boyd Tinsley of Charlottesville's Dave Matthews Band cut a $25,000 check to Moving Virginia Forward last week.

HD35: Democratic candidate Mark Keam, who is now in a 4-way primary battle for the seat vacated by Steve Shannon after the exit of Vienna Town Councilwoman Edythe Kelleher raised over $130,000 before the end of the first quarter, and currently has about $100,000 cash on hand. (PDF)

HD47: Candidates for the open seat left vacant by the retirement of Delegate Al Eisenberg will meet for their first debate on Tuesday, April 2nd before a meeting of the Barcroft School and Civic League. 7:30-10:00 PM at the Community House (800 S. Buchanan St., Arlington, VA).

HD17: There are now five candidates filed in the fracas to replace Delegate Fralin in Roanoke.  Roanoke City Councilwoman Gwen Mason is the only Democrat to have filed.

Will there be a rash of April 1 candidate filings to avoid having to file a finance report on the 15th? We'll see.

Mark Keam's Fundraising
I was so excited to hear that Mark Keam had raised $130,000! This just confirms for me what I've always known about his campaign. The miraculously well-experienced staff he has assembled is capable of not only winning the primary in June but also of beating the Republicans in November. Of course, ability to win is not the only important thing in a race. Mark's dedication to public service which he has demonstrated through his service in the federal government (first as a lawyer in the Federal Communications Commission then as an assistant at the Small Business Administration and finally as Chief Counsel for Senator Dick Durbin) has made him the kind of person who will serve the citizens of the 35th District the way we deserve.
